Inactivity Software for Banks, Insurers, Pension Administrators and Fintechs in Nigeria

Inactivity software notices when a customer, policyholder or contributor goes quiet, reaches them and escalates only if they do not answer. Here is how it works in each part of the Nigerian market, and how Entrustt powers it.

Entrustt is inactivity software for Nigerian institutions. Your systems send the signals you already hold. Entrustt runs a quiet-period clock for each person, sends the check-in, and tells you through a signed webhook if there is no reply.

What going quiet means in each sector

Banks. Fewer transactions, no card use, no app login. TheCable’s summary of the CBN guidelines puts dormancy at typically one year for current accounts and two years for savings accounts, so a check-in well before that date leaves room to reach the customer. See inactivity API for banks in Nigeria.

Insurers. Premiums stop, post and email bounce, or a named beneficiary can no longer be reached. A consumer guide notes that a policy nobody knows about never pays out, and that beneficiary details need to stay current. A check-in to the policyholder keeps those details fresh. See Entrustt for insurers.

Pension fund administrators. Contributions stop, statements go unanswered or a profile is never updated. PenCom’s data recapture already treats a change of next of kin as a reason to update records, according to TheCable. A check-in asks contributors to confirm their details. See PenCom data recapture and next of kin.

Fintechs. Wallet use drops, repayments stop or notifications go unopened. These accounts are easy to lose track of, so a short quiet period works better than a long one.

NGX registrars. Dividend payments bounce and mandates stay incomplete. The SEC launched a nationwide campaign in July 2026 to recover about ₦270 billion in unclaimed dividends, per Nairametrics. An earlier check-in is a way to reach a shareholder before a payment goes unclaimed. See unclaimed dividend resolution software.

What to look for in the software

  • A clock per product. A current account, a policy and a pension account should not share one timer.
  • More than one channel. If a message gets no reply, the software tries another.
  • It stops when the person acts. A login or a reply ends the check.
  • A human reviews. Staff approve any contact with a second person.
  • An audit log. Each attempt is recorded for regulators and auditors.
  • Signed webhooks. You can trust that an event came from the software. See signed webhooks with HMAC-SHA256.

How Entrustt powers it

  1. Send activity signals to the Entrustt API, or connect your event stream.
  2. Entrustt starts a quiet-period clock for each person, set per product.
  3. When the clock ends, it sends the customer a check-in in your name.
  4. If there is no reply, it tries a second channel, then flags the case for your staff.
  5. A staff member reviews, and may contact the person the customer named. Every step is logged.

Common questions

What is inactivity software?

Software that watches for people who have stopped using a product or responding, sends a check-in and escalates if there is still no answer. It does not close accounts or move money.

Is it only for banks?

No. Insurers, pension fund administrators, fintechs and NGX registrars all have people they can no longer reach, and each can use the same engine with different signals and timings.

Does it replace our dormancy process?

No. Your dormancy and compliance rules stay in place. The software gives you an earlier, documented attempt to reach the customer before those rules apply.

What do we send to Entrustt?

The activity signals you already hold, such as transactions, logins, contributions or dividend mandate status. Entrustt returns a signed webhook when someone goes quiet.

How can I try Entrustt?

Book a conversation with Entrustt or ask for sandbox keys, and your engineers can test the API before you decide.
