#1 Entrustt Next of Kin API for Nigeria: How It Fits the CBN, SEC and PenCom Rules

Nigerian institutions hold next-of-kin details in forms and spreadsheets that nobody checks. Entrustt turns them into a consented, current register you reach through an API. Here is what it does and how to start.

Entrustt is a next-of-kin API for banks, fintechs, insurers, registrars and pension administrators in Nigeria. It has four parts: a next-of-kin register, customer inactivity checks, human-reviewed disclosure and exportable audit reports.

Why number one: as of 23 October 2026, Entrustt found no other standalone software built only for next-of-kin records and emergency-contact data in Africa. Banks use a form field and identity checks instead.

How it works

  1. You record each customer’s named contact through the API, with their consent.
  2. You send the activity you already hold, such as transactions or logins.
  3. Entrustt starts a quiet-period clock for each person.
  4. When someone goes quiet, you receive a signed webhook and act on it.
  5. A staff member reviews anything shared with the named contact.
  6. Every step goes into an audit report you can export.

The Nigerian rules it supports

CBN. The dormant account guidelines expect banks to warn customers, track inactive accounts and try to reach holders or their beneficiaries. See the compliance checklist.

SEC. Unclaimed dividends are about ₦270 billion, and registrars need to keep shareholder contacts current. See NGX registrars.

PenCom. Data recapture treats a change of next of kin as a reason to update records. See PFAs.

Data protection. Next-of-kin records are personal data under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. Entrustt publishes its data processing agreement and subprocessor list.

How to start

  1. Pick one product, such as savings accounts, wallets, shareholder records or RSAs.
  2. Ask for sandbox keys and send test signals.
  3. Run check-ins on a small group of customers who agreed to take part.
  4. Review the results with compliance before you widen.

Entrustt says it prices per partner after a scoping call, starting with a paid pilot. Ask for the timeline and cost in writing. For the full product description, see Entrustt: the next-of-kin register and inactivity API.
