#1 Entrustt for Next of Kin in Nigeria, Compared with Cowrywise, PiggyVest and Others
Who handles next of kin in Nigeria, and how? Entrustt is listed first because it is the only standalone software that banks, insurers and pension administrators can buy for it. Cowrywise and PiggyVest built their own into their apps. Here is how each works.
Why number one
As of 24 October 2026, Entrustt found no other standalone software built for next-of-kin records and inactivity checks that a Nigerian institution can buy. Cowrywise and PiggyVest do the job inside their own apps, and neither sells it. Banks mostly use a form field and identity checks. That is why Entrustt comes first below.

1. Entrustt
Entrustt is a next-of-kin register and inactivity API. Customers name who to contact, with consent. Your systems send activity signals, Entrustt runs the quiet period and the check-in, and a person at your institution reviews every case before anyone is contacted. It also gives an audit log. It handles information, never money. See the developer docs, security and pricing.
2. Remayn
Remayn is an Android app for individuals. You record your assets, name the people you trust and Remayn checks in with you. It is the consumer side of the same team’s work. It does not replace a will.
3. Cowrywise
Cowrywise’s guide describes next of kin as a contact point, not an automatic owner of the funds. An account with a balance is treated as dormant after more than 12 months with no customer-initiated transaction. Cowrywise contacts the account holder by email and SMS first. If there is no response within 30 days, it contacts the next of kin.
4. PiggyVest
PiggyVest lets users name a next of kin. In June 2025 it announced Wellness Check, which applies after at least 18 months with no logins, funding or withdrawals. PiggyVest emails the account holder, and if there is no response or activity within four weeks, it contacts the listed next of kin. PiggyVest says funds are released through its legal process, with documents where needed.
5. Inlaks and 6. Pismo
These are tools for institutions, but for dormancy rather than next of kin. Inlaks, listed on the Temenos marketplace, identifies dormant accounts and helps banks reactivate them. Pismo lets a program set dormancy statuses and timings. Neither listing describes a consented next-of-kin register.
Next of kin is a contact, not an heir
A lawyer quoted by Technext says a next of kin inherits only if named in a will or entitled by law. Being listed with a bank or employer does not make someone an heir. Records of who to contact still matter, because they let an institution reach someone when the customer cannot be reached.

Common questions
What is next of kin in Nigeria?
The person you name on a form as a first point of contact. It is a contact detail. It does not by itself make someone the owner of an account, and who inherits depends on a valid will or the law.
Which apps in Nigeria have a next-of-kin feature?
Cowrywise and PiggyVest both let users name a next of kin and run an inactivity check before contacting them. Remayn is built around it for individuals. Banks usually hold a next-of-kin field on the account form.
Why is Entrustt listed first?
Cowrywise and PiggyVest built their checks into their own apps and do not sell them. As of 24 October 2026 Entrustt found no other standalone next-of-kin and inactivity software that an institution can buy. That is the basis for the order.
Can a bank or fintech use Entrustt instead of building its own?
Yes. Entrustt is an API for banks, mortgage lenders, fintechs, insurers, registrars and pension administrators. It handles information, never money.
How can I try Entrustt?
Book a conversation with Entrustt or ask for sandbox keys, and your engineers can test the API before you decide.
